Description
The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 has been revised with many features including a refined chassis and engine package.
Our R&D team immediately went to work on the development for the new Yamaha and called on our AT2 profile to handle the power and torque of the 890cc three cylinder - torque monster engine. The AT2 is perfect styling for the MT-09 and incorporates our exclusive Works Finish an aggressively styled matte finish carbon fiber end cap complimented by a facet-formed tip while adding an aggressive GP tone.
Right away the bike lost 6 pounds by removing the stock system and installing the AT2 Race Series full system. With plenty of torque on the bottom end we focused on bringing the power more to the top of the spectrum. After development and testing was all said and done the AT2 gave the MT-09 a nice 2.7% increase in max HP and a 1.6% in max torque.

Works Finish Explained
New Yoshimura Works Finish takes on a unique coloring after it goes through a heat cycle on the motorcycle that looks much like those titanium works components our factory racers use.

What cell phone videos don't really capture is how deep and bassy the exhaust note of this pipe really is.
One thing to note, this thing is loud, like proper loud. Videos don't do it justice. If not waking the neighbors is a concern, I'd invest in the DB killer, maintain a very judicious throttle hand around the neighborhood, or both.
Idle has a deep rumble, while staying true to the original sound of the CP3, while pops and burbles are excentuated on deceleration and gear change. Depending on what part of the power band you're in, it sounds smooth and bassy, into a grunting, grunting midrange, and finally an angry, wailing redline.
Immediately could feel how much more freely the engine was breathing.
Excellent fit & finish, high quality fasteners and parts, pipes and muffler look like borderline works of art. The entire assembly heated in and turned a lovely bronze tinge. It looks /beautiful/ mounted up.
The welds could be a teeny bit cleaner, Kelpi exhausts do have it beat on how esthetically pleasing the welds are. A small nitpick, but fair at the price point I think.
Installation was a pain. You *will* need socket extensions and angle adapters on the MT09. Still, could be worse.
Catless system so be ready for your bike to smell like a proper machine- uncatalyzed 91 octane, beautiful
- Sound; 9/10 - Iconic, rivaled only by Akra and SC
- Volume; 7/10 - Genuinely too loud for some use cases without db killer
- Look; 10/10 - The most handsome MT09 exhaust available
- Fit & Finish; 7.5/10 - Some weld splattering that could have been sanded, despite the really nice finish
- Performance; 8/10 - 6lbs of weight savings and really solid power gain even without a tune, quite good with a tune
If you can tolerate the welds and you like the sound, absolutely go for it
After reading people say this exhaust is for old heads I started overthinking my purchase. After installing, and hearing the bike. I’m glad I chose the yoshimura at2. Sounds amazing!! Easy instal, simple and finished work looks great.
