Yoshimura doesn’t just make the best exhaust pipes in the world, we make thousands of them every month. It’s amazing, but we ship out pipes all day, all over the country, and all over the world.

It’s a daunting task trying to produce this level of volume and at the same time… keep our quality and performance standards at a high level. This is where the manufacturing group comes into play. Brad Stephens leads this group and somehow they manage to pull it off month after month.

There is so much handwork and old-world craftsmanship that goes into this process; that it is impossible to simply automate 100%. This means that planning, scheduling, and coordinating the effort are critical. On any day, every month of the year, there are hundreds of “build orders” circulating.

The welding stations will be going wide open with the sound of the Tig welders singing their song. The tube-benders will be filling huge bins of header tubes ready to be jigged and welded. Mid-pipes are being sized at the slip-fit and the muffler shop is beating out a rhythm of baffle cores being pounded into canisters.

If you look at it one way… it’s a big shop full of cacophonous noise and frenzied activity… but look again and you can see that it’s an art form really. A blending of hundreds of dissimilar endeavors, that ends up coming together in making the best exhaust systems in the world.
